The Musae Research and Service Institute (MRSI), is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation, which performs scientific and academic research on topics pertinent to society and culture in order to develop educational programs and various services for the public. Musae is Latin for the Greek muses which represent various intellectual pursuits, signifying the broad and diverse types of intellectual and service projects that MRSI seeks to undertake and promote.
Musae Research and Service Institute recognizes and emphasizes the human person and human spirit as the heart of culture. All science, technology, and art should be oriented to the service of the human person and towards the betterment of her environment. MRSI is an umbrella organization which undertakes, supports, and promotes various academic and educational initiatives. Currently our primary focus is the Pathos Project, a medical, scientific, and academic research inquiry into suffering and depersonalization in the clinical context in order to develop educational and clinical solutions. As physicians and scientists become more scientifically and technologically advanced we must remain focused on the patient as a person, for when we treat them as mere biological machines, and not holistically, we threaten their dignity and risk losing our own humanity in the process. Founded in the spring of 2005, MRSI is young but growing. Our website provides information and resources about our current research, future goals, and eventual services.
